Number of check-in bags allowed?
Wondering how many checkin bags your airline allows or not completely sure about it?
Generally, most of the airlines allow 2 check-in bags with a limit of 23 kg weight on each. If you are not completely sure, it is good to check on the airlines website under baggage requirements before you book your ticket. A few airlines also allow 3 bags for students (to proved with an i-20) which can be very useful when you are travelling for first as a student ex. Singapore Airlines.
If you have already booked your ticket, in most cases you will have a baggage allowance mentioned on your itinerary.
In addition to the checkin bags, you should also check the cabin baggage allowance, as it differs from airline to airline and some airlines like emirates are very strict about it these days( They only allow a 7 kg bag i.e. laptop bag/handbag).
It is best to follow these limits set by the airlines to avoid any hiccups at the airport and to ensure a smooth flight.
In your hand luggage, you are allowed to take liquids and gels in containers of 100 ml. Any liquid more than 100 ml must be put in your checked luggage. All your small liquids and gels must be placed inside a resealable plastic bag.
General rule of thumb is not to put anything that may be considered inflammable or an explosive in your luggage. Aerosols, deodorants should be put in your checked baggage.
To summarize, look on the airlines website for below (best case would be to check before booking your flight):
- Cabin baggage allowance :- Weights limit, Dimensions allowed
- Checkin baggage allowance :- Weights limit, Dimensions allowed
